Daniel Louis Goldy was born in 1915 in Butler, New Jersey. He received his A.B. in 1936 A.B. and completed work for his M.A. the same year at the University of Wisconsin. From 1936 to 1937 he was a graduate student at the University of Chicago, and was an apprentice to the Director and Consultant of the American Public Welfare Association.
